    The Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO) has prepared  Manual stating various requirements of the Rules administered by the Organisation to facilitate you to understand what you have to do i.e. what document to be submitted, to whom, how those document are to be prepared, how drawings are to be made complying with the Rules etc. for obtaining licence, approval etc. of premises coming under purview of the Explosive Act,1884; Petroleum Act,1934 & six Rules made thereunder viz. Explosive Rules, 1983, Gas Cylinder Rules,1981,  Static & Mobile Pressure Vessels (Unfired) Rules, 1981, Petroleum Rules, 1976, Calcium Carbide Rules, 1987 etc. This manual also contains as to what to check and also what scrutiny is carried out by the Organisation, to satisfy that the documents meet the requirements of the relevant rules for granting licence, issuing approval, renewal of licence etc. The various application forms required for different types of licences for different purposes can be had by clicking the proper link.

T his procedure is aimed at bringing transparency in the working of the Organisation making it more user-friendly.  This will increase the efficiency of the Organisation and will ultimately benefit the industry as a whole. This manual is designed essentially practical in orientation.

As this is a complete manual of the century old Organisation, it consists of various related information of  the Organisation in which you may be interested. Therefore, various general matters other than licensing work have also been incorporated in the  Manual, for example, the origin and development of the Organisation; organizational structure; vital statistical information; safety philosophy underlying the Acts and Rules, conditions of licence, many policy decisions of the Organisation etc; various miscellaneous activities performed by the Organisation for the interest of public safety and security of the country.

In this connection, this Organisation solicits your valuable suggestions within 45 days, which will be examined by a team of senior officers to enable them to prepare final manual of the Organisation which will be of practical use to various cross section of the people.
